The purpose of an endowment fund at the L’Arche Canada Foundation is to support vital work that is essential to the mission of L’Arche, but that is rarely covered by public funding. Some examples of activities that endowment funds make possible are:
- The growth of L’Arche across Canada through new homes and apartments, social enterprise projects, educational initiatives, recreational activities and the arts.
- Investment in innovative housing and employment opportunities that encourage the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in neighborhoods and the workplace.
- Leadership development for people with and without intellectual disabilities that supports their empowerment to carry responsibility in their communities and their lives.
- Advocacy work with national partners to shape social policy and foster the full participation of people with intellectual disabilities as valued leaders and citizens.
- Project and crisis support for L’Arche communities in need around the world.
