L'Arche Avalon

Why support us?

With your help, we can build a more compassionate, more human society.

Imagine a World Where Everyone Belongs!

L’Arche is a national leader in building communities of inclusion and belonging. With a presence in Canada since 1969, L’Arche Canada is recognized as one of the few national, bilingual organizations committed to the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.

In Canada and around the world, L’Arche is taking a leading role in the movement for inclusion and belonging, where people with and without intellectual disabilities live, work, learn and grow together.

The Impact of L’Arche is personal, local, regional, national, and global. Help us build a L’Arche community in the Northeast Avalon.

You Can Make a Difference

Every gift matters. Thanks to the support of our donors, people with intellectual disabilities are sharing their gifts to create inclusive neighbourhoods, vibrant places of work and artistry, and communities of belonging that inspire and encourage social change. Together, we can build a more compassionate society.

Our Vision and Values

We Foster Vibrant Communities

Our vision is to establish and sustain L’Arche homes in the St. John’s region where adults with and without intellectual disabilities live together forming trusting relationships. L’Arche Avalon is committed to supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling lives as active and engaged members of their communities.

We Celebrate the Value of Each Person

We plan and host gatherings which reflect the L’Arche model of community and celebrate diversity, promote socialization and enhance belonging.

We Journey Together with Respect

We organize activities specifically involving our core members (those with intellectual disabilities in L’Arche communities – they are the core!). We come together as a community participating in monthly walks, gatherings, jam circles, spiritual expressions and weekly lunches which help foster the growth of our community.
